DC is abound with hostile architecture & anti-homeless laws that crystallize the violence inherent to being unhoused. While such policies directly target & most greatly impact unhoused neighbors, they perpetuate ageism & ableism and harm all of our experiences with public space.
Union Station is in the news. A reminder that there are no public seats at the station b/c they decided that, instead of having seats that homeless folks might use, they'd rather nobody be allowed to sit. Disabled? No seats. Pregnant? None.Anti homelessness policies hurt us all.
