If you are involved in basketball in Boston, you knew Jason Murray. He was one of the great ones. I watched him officiate a ton of college games. Brought Gatorade for all of the kids every year in a tourney I ran. A really good person who lost his life to senseless violence. RIP

Terrible news from coaching world. I just heard that former Delaware St WBB HC Dave Caputo passed away suddenly. Was only in his early 40’s. I got to know him over the last decade and followed his rise from JUCO/D2 head coach to D1 assistant to D1 head coach. Was a great person.

Tough day in the college basketball world. Chris Cheeks, one of the really good guys in this business has passed away. Was a long-time D1 assistant, with stops at BC, WKU, Del, Charlotte, GA St, WVU + VCU. Scored 1200+ points in 2 seasons at VCU. Leaves behind a wife and 3 kids.

Coaches - it’s not hard to learn an officials name before the game. I’ve seen too many small college games this year where coaches yell “hey ref” when they have a question.
Address them by their name + be respectful. It’s the right thing to do.
