In response to numerous complaints at this Columbia condo complex, Community Outreach and Pathways Section (COPS) officers worked with the complex to install "no trespassing" signs. They then conducted enforcement and area checks, resulting in the case seen in this video.

Yesterday, Chief Der welcomed the 31 members of Academy 51 on their first day. These entry-level recruits will embark on a rigorous seven-month academy before they can begin field training. Good luck to these recruits and we hope to see all of them at graduation in February!

Preliminarily, police believe the man repeatedly stabbed a family member with the spear inside a nearby residence. The family member was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

Officers are in the area of Carters Lane and Oakland Mills Road in Columbia on the scene of a police-involved shooting involving a 23-year-old man who was armed with a large double edge spear. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
