5/ Why is this important? Identifying these subgroups can help tailor immunotherapies to individual patients, potentially improving outcomes and reducing the burden of lifelong insulin therapy.

4/ The study involved 256 individuals with recent-onset T1DM from @Innodiagroup, using advanced sequencing technologies to ensure robust and reliable results. Consistency in findings across two cohorts reinforces the potential of these miRNAs as biomarkers.

3/ Patients were categorized into Cluster A and Cluster B. Interestingly, Cluster B showed better glycemic control and unique immune profiles. Could this mean a step towards more targeted diabetes therapies? 🤔.

2/ Specifically, microRNAs from the 14q32 chromosomal locus play a key role. These miRNAs, especially miR-409-3p, miR-382-5p, and miR-127-3p, were pivotal in differentiating the two subgroups. #Genomics #Diabetes.

1/ In our recent study, we identified two distinct subgroups of T1DM patients based on their circulating microRNA profiles. This could pave the way for personalized treatment strategies. #precisionmedicine.

IL-22RA1 receptor has a crucial role in the pancreas. Blocking IL-22RA1 impairs insulin quality, increasing stress in human islets. Mice lacking IL-22RA1 in beta-cells show decreased insulin secretion and increased inflammation.#DiabetesResearch #IL22RA1.

Autoimmune diseases are the by-product of past.evolutionary selection against environmental pathogens. It was a trade off between protection against infections (at that time) and risk of autoimmunity (present day)
