This month, we introduce “Voices on Palestine,” an e-book that collects some of the work about Palestine published in @GuernicaMag since 2010, with appreciation for the writers who risked so much to witness. Cover art by Alexandra Sophia Handal. https://t.co/bCHS4DOkgT

“There was goodwill but not enough to straddle the chasm that divided us.” In Israel, a translator tries to tread the line of empathy. From @joannachen1's essay “From the Edges of a Broken World.” https://t.co/J2s3mpa902

This was the life they had worked so hard for. All those years of education and sacrifice were paying off, finally, with a secure and comfortable life doing work that they loved. I love these essays being released with @GraceLP's book! Check out this one in @GuernicaMag!

“Like plastic that flung itself / into a fire, I think I am weeping.” Past @israology's four-line poem “Glaze” haunts the questions, what do we choose, & how do we live with what we witness? https://t.co/1QAW7GWXT8

“And if I could, Mom, I’d return Ana to my warm, warm womb, & I’d carry her forever in this sick body of mine, just so I wouldn’t have to hurt you to get my hands on the key to an ossuary.” New fiction by Itamar Vieira Junior, translated by Johnny Lorenz. https://t.co/R6fnpy6t7F

In Israel, a translator tries to tread the line of empathy. “There is a limit to which the human soul can stomach atrocities and keep going,” @joannachen1 writes in her essay “From the Edges of a Broken World.” https://t.co/J2s3mpaGPA

For the Itamar Vieira Junior fans, here's an extra treat to go with this story in @GuernicaMag—an interview conducted by Ana Laura Malmaceda. https://t.co/sds5BW0rLF

Our March issue of @GuernicaMag is here! I'm pleased to be publishing two dynamic stories. The great Itamar Vieira Junior's "Black Wing Dragging Across the Sand," in marvelous translation by Johnny Lorenz, is a dynamic, surprising Clarice Lispector homage

"The Smoke of the Land Went Up," by Andrew Cominelli, is dystopic, fast-paced, and sexually charged. It is the first story I've ever read about a New Orleans pedicab driver - which made sense when I found out that Andrew is a New Orleans pedicab driver!

My short story "The Smoke of the Land Went Up" is in @GuernicaMag today. It's got sex, drugs, pedicabbing, a landscaping convention, and lots of dread. Huge thanks to editors @autumn_watts, @adalva, and Ishita Marwah for getting this out into the world. https://t.co/KQbyQE62iQ

Itamar Vieira Junior, in translation by Johnny Lorenz, writes in an almost literary pointilism, sprinting through time, about mothers & daughters & one lost baby girl. In our Spotlights series, @jendayi_bf's short story's monsters challenge a small community in Texas.

In the latest of our postcard series on climate change, @dtrilling arrives at another kind of edge — a river run dry on the border of Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan. In @ajcomjr’s “The Smoke Went Up,”pedicab driver brooks depression & hitches along with tourists in New Orleans pedicab.

Hassan's poem is in conversation with work from @joannachen1, a volunteer with Road to Recovery, a nonprofit that brings Palestinian children with urgent medical needs to & from Israeli hospitals. Chen's essay is a meditation on (some of) what forging that life requires.

I am in awe of what @OldManLumans can do in the space of a story. He receives his mail in Berlin, but he's one of America's finest fiction writers. Case in point, his story "The Jaws of Life," recently published in @GuernicaMag. https://t.co/9SFMNYCGJ6
