Red Sox failed to take advantage of a golden opportunity:.Joe Ryan was the perfect fit. All-star pitcher with 2 yrs of control. Twins were in fire-sale mode.Make it happen. Add the prospect. Garcia? Arias? Tibbs? Arms? Whatever!. Get it done, and they failed. No excuses.

As I just said on @MLBNetwork, we should rename the Trade Deadline “A.J. Preller Day.” The Padres’ GM always makes things interesting, and he’s done it again this year with the Mason Miller deal.

The Red Sox were in the mix for Eugenio Suárez, with the intention of acquiring him to play first base, per @Ken_Rosenthal and @jcmccaffrey. He would’ve been an incredible fit at Fenway. Hopefully this shows the Red Sox are looking to add a real bat to this lineup.
