More substance on the changes to Ofsted and the EIF following the Big Listen. Some sensible changes but lots still to work through #Ofsted.

Definitely a welcome move to scrap the one-word Ofsted judgements, but in reality this in itself doesn't change all that much. Still, a step in the right direction, especially scrapping intervention for schools getting successive RI judgements. #Ofsted

The immediate changes mean schools in England will no longer be rated Outstanding or Inadequate.

A really positive outcome for teachers and schools. Very hard to imagine such an outcome under the previous government.
We've reset the relationship between government and the workforce, to make teaching a go-to profession and improve children's life chances:. ✅ A fully-funded pay rise above inflation.✅ Reducing workload.✅ More flexible working.✅ Education back at the heart of national life.

Extremely interesting yet concerning findings from research conducted by @FrankWNorris.@colinsparkbridginto capturing teachers' thoughts on Ofsted. Well worth a read, and highlights the necessity for change. Food for thought for the new government.
report is now out and offers a compelling reason for radical change at Ofsted. The new government must now grasp the nettle and provide time for a major rethink on school and post 16 inspections. The authors knew it was bad, but not this bad.

Fixing the teacher recruitment crisis is a huge challenge. Firm details on how the new government plan to do this are yet to be seen, but it is good to see Bridget Phillipson get straight to business. #teacherrecruitment.

Interesting to read the 2024 #pearsonschoolreport. The increase in complex educational needs / SEND over the past few years is striking. This will not be an easy fix in the current school climate.

Watching the government actively erode the competitiveness of one of the UK’s few world leading industries is hugely concerning. Truly crisis time for the HE sector.

A relief to see the teacher recruitment crisis so high on Labour’s priority list. However, no clear indication on how these targets will be met. An improvement in teacher pay competitiveness feels key.
