I obsess over Green Bay Packers & NFL History and Other Useless Football Trivia.

Decided to watch some old NFL playoff games. It bothers me how old 2010 looks. The helmets, the pads, the graphics. I never thought 2010 would be old.

It's been 5 seasons and I still hate the look of the 17 game final standings. 13-3, 12-4, and 11-5 look so much more impressive than 13-4, 12-5, and 11-6. 9-8. 8-9 Yuck. These look like UFC records. Not NFL records.

While I'm in the data, the best non-playoff GB team by point differential is 1984. Started 1-7, but went 7-1 down stretch with a dominant+118 PD in those 8 games. Only game they lost in was to Detroit on Thanksgiving 31-28. Had they won, they make the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

Fun graph. 2025 Packers are a +31 point differential. That ranks 32 out of the 60 Packers teams in the Super Bowl Era. Only the 2013 Packers (-11) were worse among Packers playoff teams. In fairness, the Packers are -44 in point differential the last four weeks. Strange year.
Each NFL team's regular season point differential in the Super Bowl era through the 2025 season. The Seahawks and Texans have reached new high points, while the Raiders and Jets have nearly matched their worst seasons ever.

Just a mind blowing stat. I had to verify it myself. John Fox has 8 playoff wins. The Chicago/St. Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals have 7. Cardinals have played 106 seasons and over half of their playoff wins (4) came from the Kurt Warner Cards in a 372 day period in 2009-10.
the Cardinals are currently 230 games under .500. after 106 seasons, they have fewer playoff wins as an organization than John Fox has as a head coach

One of the all time TD leaders with the fewest TDs of 5 or less yards is Joe Montana at 22%. But I bet there was a ton of YAC on those longer TDs with Rice, Taylor, and that West Coast scheme. Does that cheapen it?

Seeing this discussion a lot today. How long does a touchdown pass have to be to not be stat padding? Philip Rivers (23%) is the only guy in the Top 10 who doesn't have more than a quarter of his career TD passes coming from 5 yards or less.

Wow just realized the Packers had -7 team passing yards yesterday. First time in 50 seasons (1976) they've had negative team passing yards and only the 8th time since at least 1934. Yuck.

NO/GB close calls: 2004: NO were the last team out. Would have played at GB had STL lost in Wk 17 2009: GB would’ve played at NO if they won the OT thriller vs ARZ 2019: NO would’ve played at GB in Div Rd had they not lost to Min in OT 2020: Top Two NFC Seeds. NO lost to TB

I've actually seen this "Reid wasting Mahomes prime" take a lot. KC has three Super Bowl titles and five AFC titles in the 9 years they've had Mahomes. If Mahomes never goes to the playoffs again, he will have gotten more out of his prime than all but a handful of QBs in history
Zac Taylor and Andy Reid are wasting generational QBs, and both are considered 100% rock-solid safe. What a tragic sport this is

I've seen all these today: "Why should a team with a worse record get to host because they won a bad division!?" "Why does a 2 seed have to play on short rest!?" "Why does a West Coast team have an afternoon kickoff!?" C'mon man, it's football. Just go play.

This is true. Especially with today's kickers. There were 11 made Field Goals of 60+ yards in 2025. From 1980-2009, there were six.
Something has to change in the NFL. I don't what it is. But you can't have teams getting the ball at the 35 on a touchback and needing 15 yards to be in field goal range.

A playoff game on Prime is ok - I like their NFL production and it's available in many homes (like 130 million subs). But in 2026, I'm done chasing sports around these streaming services. Put a game on service I don't have. Fine. It's not hard to find something else to watch.

Reminder that the Packers/Bears playoff game will be broadcast locally if you live in range of the Green Bay or Milwaukee viewing area WGBA Channel 26 (NBC) in Green Bay WITI Channel 6 (Fox) in Milwaukee

Packers/Bears on Prime. Two of the biggest fanbases. Had Mahomes on Peacock in 2023. Steelers/Ravens on Prime last year. Seems like the NFL is going to be quite deliberate with these streaming exclusive games.
BREAKING: The Official NFL Wild Card Round Schedule Saturday 4:30 - Rams @ Panthers (FOX) 8:00 - Packers @ Bears (Prime) Sunday 1:00 - Bills @ Jaguars (CBS) 4:30 - Niners @ Eagles (FOX) 8:15 - Chargers @ Patriots (NBC) Monday 8:15 - Texans @ Steelers/Ravens (ESPN)

If the 🐐 believes, I believe too.
Daniel Whelan kept it simple when asked why he believes this team can make a playoff run: "Because we're the Green Bay #Packers, man. That's why. We're a good team. I think we can win it all this year."
