What is WP3 working on terrestrial GHG fluxes and carbon cycle up to this coming year? We wish to enhance knowledge of the effects from a changing climate and increasing frequency of extreme events at high northern latitudes on terrestrial GHG exchanges and C-cycle.

What is WP2 on Human Footprints up to the coming year? Through co-production workshops we wish to bring the human perspectives, pressures & impact into a holistic system approach. Develop tools to identify & visualize human footprints, thus mitigate pressures that human induce.

We all met up at Risø in Roskilde last week! We had fantastic discussions, synced in, and explored more. It is incredible to follow this project and be part of how it moves forward, how we understand our tasks coming from different fields and how we all learn along the way!

Taking a small glide over the magical kelp forests around Andøya. These forests are the lungs of the sea capturing up to 20 times more carbon than land forests 💚🌿 what will we do if it disappears? #bluecarbon #kelp #humanfootprints

Yesterday we explored areas of kelp forests that have been mapped through local knowledge. Forest that generates some of the largest ecosystem services to us and our world🌿 #climate #sustainability #arctic #carbon #bluecarbon #mapping @aarhus_university

WP2 is on Andøya mapping ecosystem services that kelp provides, bluecarbon & human footprints. Local fishermen have shared their incredible knowledge. We have been mapping, interviewing & speaking with fantastic people +surprised because some footprints are not what we expected!

It is not only terrestrial C cycling✌️ Within the umbrella of WP5, students come to Nuuk 🇬🇱 for the ASSP Greenhouse gases course. With hands on they learn about air-sea gas exchange in areas where ice plays an important role for climate @AarhusUni @AsspStudy @GEM_Arctic @NuukNERO

Every year MSc students from @AarhusUni attend the @AsspStudy Greenhouse gases course in Nuuk, Greenland 🇬🇱 to learn about terrestrial C cycle dynamics using @GEM_Arctic @NuukNERO @ZERO74N data. This teaching course is associated with our @GreenFeedBack WP3 & 5 @_LopezBlanco

How we can reverse this imbalance in nature and get back the kelp, the fish and the rich diversity that uses the kelp as their home💙 Not least can we get the kelp forest back again, it will be able to absorb more than a third of a year's CO₂ emissions from Norway

We are excited to welcome Henry Henson, a new PhD student employed by the GreenFeedback project and WP5! Henry will study greenhouse gas fluxes in coastal Greenland ecosystems🙌

A large part of WP3 involves work with large scale ecosystem models describing cycles of carbon, water and energy. As observations have a limited coverage in space and time, the models are an essential tool in investigating responses of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change!
