Our population analysis of T. dubium will offer insights into its adaptive potential amidst environmental changes, uncovering the species’ adaptation and demographic history. More broadly, our project hopes to elevate the profile of biodiversity genomics in Ireland.

Ireland's landscape and temperate oceanic climate play key roles in it's biodiversity. With T. dubium being widely recorded across Ireland, we plan to collect samples throughout the country in order to capture the species' genetic diversity.

Trifolium dubium, or the lesser trefoil, is a culturally significant small annual clover found across West Eurasia. Known as the shamrock in Ireland, T. dubium acts as a national symbol and is prominently worn by many on St. Patrick’s Day.
