From Grill’d worker, Pete just then: “Grill’d tells us not to bite the hand that feeds, but how can we do that when we’re the ones making the food” Incredible

Our Grill’d member Pete gave an amazing speech on the weekend at the first industrial action taken by fast food workers in Australia. Pete spoke about his experience as a #GrilldBurger employee of almost a decade - it is definitely worth checking out!

The moment Grill’d workers made history and started the first fast food strike ever in Australia. As an ex-grill’d employee I’m so proud of these legends ✊

More than 100 supporters turned out today for Australia’s first ever fast food strike. Brave workers at Grill’d in Flinders Lane Melb defied their very anti-union, anti-worker employer & walked out to protest #GrilldBurgers ongoing use of dodgy traineeship’s to suppress wages.

The legends @raffwu have increased the NO vote on an SDA EBA at Woolies from 6.5% in 2018 to 38% in 2024. A massive achievement, and the result of years of patient organising. #ausunions

Last year, instructors at over 150 Fitness First and Goodlife Health Clubs launched a union campaign to halt underpayment, wage cuts by stealth, and deteriorating work conditions. Within a few months, management caved to their demands. https://t.co/auh9YluCZC

There’s still more work to be done to ensure fitness workers can keep their heads above water with the rising cost of living. But as more and more fitness workers get organised and join United Workers Union they will only get stronger and stronger.
