Here comes midnight, with the dead moon in it's jaws, must be the big star about to fall. instagram: Tomgibo

It's quite funny how deeply Mexican my timeline has gone, this was the first post that shows up. I'm trying to curate it to only be about birds, but instead I have pop culture references about rain and Aztec gods. No es que me estoy quejando...

As these Inca Doves were in Chapultepec Park in Chilangolandia I believe the correct way to refer to what they were doing is that they went to "despeinar la cotorra" to ahem, ruffle the parrot.

Some Mexican wildlife. The central valley hasn't been super birdy, but I'm still seeing some nice things.

Another highlight of my brief Minsmere trip was watching two Hummingbird Hawk-moths feeding for an extended period.

Today is the day I am radicalised in the war against computers. Driving along I said "Play Nissan Dreams Pt. 1 by Why?"... "ok, playing Fleetwood Mac". Thinking machines are an abomination.

The highlight of a beautiful weekend breathing the clean air of Minsmere was getting extended close views of this Bittern which @Lesliecater1 informed me is a juvenile.

On Wednesday I watched a brief tussle between a young Peregrine and a Common Tern colony. First the Peregrine attacked the Terns, then the Terns attacked the Peregrine and chased it off, swooping and chattering.

I've seen everything birding at Staines. These guys climbed a 1.5 meter fence to roll around on prickly dead grass on the edge of a concrete basin and make out passionately. They even chose the windy side of the basin, in 30mph winds!

Easily some of the best Hawfinch shots I've seen taken anywhere in the world.
Thought it was time to pop over for the showy hawfinches Warburg NR. Quite snug this morning with all the hide hatches already taken up by 7.30 but managed to work around those already in position. A brief visit from this female made it @OOSbirding @oxonbirdnews @HawfinchesUK

I spent all of Saturday in Ashdown Forest and was quite surprised to see 0 birders in 4 hours at the well-published Llama Park raptor viewpoint. No recent reports from a site does not mean no good birds ๐

The best part is no bird watchers here at all, just me and the birds.

Woolbeding this morning. Zero birders so far but the place is heaving with passerine flocks. Fledgling Yellowhammers, tens of Spotted Flycatchers, Firecrests, family parties of Marsh Tit and more.
