The government has announced a series of draconian measures to try and prevent foreign #COVID variants from entering the UK. But in Tory hands, such steps will not help. The left must fight to put workers in control. #Tories #coronavirus #hotelquarantine

Considering all these things there is no rationale for restrictions on socialising, pubs, shops, gyms and holidays this summer
🔴 All UK adults could be offered a vaccine “by summer”. 🔴 Lockdown must be eased slowly, with at least 3 week intervals, or restrictions may have to be reimposed. 🔴 Variant that can completely evade vaccines is “unlikely”. 🔴 At least 30% of UK population has has Covid.

Jeff Bezos says he's proud of working conditions at Amazon. Workers say they're surveilled, treated like robots, and forced to work in a grueling and unsafe environment. Now these warehouse workers in Alabama are organizing to demand change.

The government is throwing everything at a vaccination campaign to end lockdown while simultaneously refusing to end lockdown based on vaccinations. Makes sense 🤪

botswana, which had 0 new cases today is on the 'red list', meaning if you come from there and don't quarantine in a hotel (costing £2k) you can get 10 years in jail BUT the US, which has had 96,460 new cases today is....not. Looks like it's not really about covid, is it.

The government must go further than today’s offering on cladding, which falls way short of the needs of my constituents and others. I stand by the principal that no one should have to pay for living in a dangerous building

Thanks to all @SocialistLawyer members who attended our AGM last night. There were a number of motions passed. @Keir_Starmer was censured by the Society & will need to re-apply for membership, as he is "demonstrably not a socialist." @NickBano @hannah_webb_ @BillBowring @pb4p

In all of this chat about not booking foreign holidays etc, remember for a lot of Brits going abroad is not just about visiting new places/ guaranteed sun etc , it’s actually about seeing family. (Two of my sisters live abroad)

Why does Labour under your leadership side with bosses over workers?
Businesses need support now. People worried about their jobs need support now. They can't wait until the Budget next month. Why does @BorisJohnson think he knows better than British businesses? #PMQs

@zeynep Think our vaccine messaging has been poor, really poor. I’ve spent a good amount of time on Sunday replying to folks worried about AZ vaccine & asking whether to cancel their appointment. While people are pushing for their agendas forget that it could have harmful implications.

Tell that to my 93 y/o blind Dad whose GP vaccinated him at home today. To those whose lives have been saved by NHS staff working round the clock. To families whose loved ones wld have died alone but for NHS staff holding their hands. Go to hell @iealondon

Neil Ferguson when there's the chance of more lockdown
Professor Neil Ferguson gives @sophyridgesky his thoughts on the new Kent variant. “It’s concerning... relaxing does pose challenges with new variants, particularly a variant that might even partially escape immunity“

'Rightly so' Applauding the Tories for empowering the police state and criminalising asylum is revolting
Ministers talking tough about punishments for people who break quarantine rules. Rightly so. Wait until they hear about the dangerous, reckless people who failed to bring in a quarantine policy at all, leaving our country wide open to Covid and new variants for a full year.
