Just picked up this beauty in Waterstones. It examines the profound influence of six materials which have helped mould human civilisation - sand, salt, iron, copper, oil and lithium. Great geographical book for the summer #GeographyTeacher

@geogbookclub Am planning to introduce extracts of these to our curriculum this year. Starting with just small chunks and hoping over time to include larger sections to analyse. And to include a wider range of texts in the future π

One of my proudest achievements to date is writing the Geography textbooks used in schools. Being able to write and co-write these with my Dad (also a Geography teacher) was a very special opportunity. #geography #geographyteacher #scottisheducation #NationalGeography

If you teach the Carbon Cycle at A-Level I would highly recommend this book and especially chapter 5 - Great Accelerations. Weβve just finished the topic and our end of year exam so it will be the perfect read to support exam feedback before we move on to Diverse Places π

Defining a concept by what it isn't '...anything that we can't do forever is, by definition, unsustainable.' Sir David Attenborough, page 75. I want a class set of these.
