We really hope you enjoy our clips and blogs about the Geology of Cycling. There's much more where that came from, but to keep making these, we're gonna need your help! All blog writers and presenters of Geo-Sports are volunteers, but our editor and film crew are independent

The #TourofHolland gives us the opportunity to introduce the geologically most puzzling mountain of Europe: the @ColDuVAMdrenthe! The Dutch province of Drenthe is world-famous for Pleistocene ice-age geology. It is scattered with large ice age erratics: enormous blocks of gneiss

Today is the day of the Dutch Championships Headwind Cycling, where pro riders get beaten by the mailman! It will be a mild edition, with only a 6-7 Bft westerly wind, but the race parcours is chosen such that there is zero protection: the 9 km long Oosterschelde dam! A dam with

We kriehen sturm! 🌬️ Forget the Tour de France: the Dutch Headwind Cycling Championships will be held on Dec 7! An 8 Bft storm will blow on the 9 km long Oosterschelde dam, and 300 racers will battle it on city bikes. We'll be there with the Geology of Shit Weather!

I guess you’ll have heard the news, that 2025 is to be ITV’s last Tour de France. Surprised (no free-to-air for London 2027??). Slightly in shock. No Gary presenting the Tour. Hard to believe.

What would the season's Grande Finale of @Il_Lombardia be without geology! (The answer probably is: a very flat spinter's race) You'll see the leaves falling over the folded and pushed up limestones - and dolomites of course, the name giver of the Italian Alps! And you'll see

The race is on. Shortly we will be at the Irchel mountain. It looks like a tafelberg, or table mountain. The top is flat like a table but its flanks are steep. The top of the mountain stayed clear during the ice ages but the foot was eroded away. We call that a nunatak. Stefan

Last day of the #Zurich2024 world championships, the men will have to show what they’re worth! And they’re lucky the race wasn’t 24000 years ago, because they’d had have to ski the entire thing back then 🥶 Stefan Heuberger at @ETH_EAPS of @ETH_en explored the route for you and

The race is off to a nuclear start..... Which is logical because Zurich is home to three nuclear power plants because it's a tectonically stable region. Read more about that in our blogs around these World Championships that we made with scientific partner @eth @ETH_EAPS Zurich
