Good progress on 1,000s more new homes in Manchester in 2025, including over 750 new social, council, and genuinely affordable homes. With over 1,500 further affordable homes on site, and another 2,000+ with planning permission - more to come in 2026.🏡🌹 https://t.co/jBjTGcqFrR

💯 Manchester is proudly diverse city, where everyone who works hard, contributes and pays their taxes are welcome. Talking about immigration is one thing but dehumanising divisive rhetoric like this isn’t welcome here.

Offensive and wrong. Britain is a proud, tolerant and diverse country. Jim Ratcliffe should apologise. https://t.co/7mSnVV33oo

Angeliki Stogia will be a great MP. Clearly loves the area, and has a track record of delivering for communities in Manchester.🌹 Would work with @McrLabour council, @AndyBurnhamGM and @UKLabour government to stand up for all people in Gorton and Denton. https://t.co/1J3Fwcode2

The war fought by raking through bins, closing alleys, and homing cats

A big blitz on fly-tipping is underway as council chiefs want to 'at least halve' the practice in a decade. But the war on rubbish requires some innovative methods, like combing through bins and even...

Gorton is one of the district centres that @McrLabour is helping to improve and invest in further.🌳 We have delivered the fantastic new Gorton Hub, a new town square, investment in the market and 100s of new social and affordable homes are being built.🏡

We want to hear what leaseholders think of the Government's plans for commonhold and leasehold reform. Help us decide what changes to recommend to the Government to improve the draft Bill, as @FloEshalomi explains. Take our survey: https://t.co/uch7dupJYp

We're going to war @ManCityCouncil on tackling fly-tipping and rubbish in Manchester. It is an awful crime when it happens, and our local residents in Old Moat and all over the city want to live in a clean and tidy community.🌳♻️ Report fly-tipping here: https://t.co/1jZiyGXNqp

Whatever is going on in the turmoil of politics, I know that for you and for millions of people, what matters is the cost of living. That's why we are taking urgent steps to tackle it head on. Freezing rail fares, rolling out free breakfast clubs and free school meals, boosting

The Renters’ Rights Act, the beginning of the end for the feudal leasehold system, the next generation of new towns, and a bold overhaul of our planning system. We’ve achieved so much over the past 19 months thanks to Keir’s leadership. Our focus must be on finishing the job.

Housing is a key issue in Gorton and Denton, so it has been good to work with @McrLabour local councillors on the delivery of 100s of new social and affordable homes in recent years, alongside a number of landlord licensing schemes to tackle issues in private rented sector too.🏡

"By tackling [housing costs] through comprehensive action, the government can make our country affordable again for everyone." Read my article for @bigissue on why the gov should prioritise making housing - and the private rented sector - affordable. https://t.co/yr4nc2cltT

I will be sitting alongside Keir Starmer at the PLP this evening as Deputy Leader with my full support. He and I have been discussing in recent days, and before, how we need to do better to take the fight to Reform (as we are doing in Gorton & Denton) and by showing we are on

Since November 2024, @ManCityCouncil have helped bring 450 long term empty homes back into use, providing valuable homes all over the city for local residents. In addition, we saw 791 new social and affordable homes built and completed in 2025 - progress made, lots more to do.🏡
Our city’s growing population means we need to build more homes - but we also need to make best use of existing homes. Around 1,500 homes have been empty for six months or more and may need action to bring them back into use. Have your say by 2 March: https://t.co/JNzBq1eRLR
