I always wish they told me about their childhood, their families, their dreams and their disappointments. We hire people. We don't hire designations. Or is this the case because most organisation hire only the role and don’t really hire the person.

The true test is when you ask, 'Tell me about yourself' and 90% of the time people talk about their work. As a recruiter, I have already seen your resume and have a fair idea of what you have done. When I meet you, what I want to know is who you are.

It always surprises me in interviews how often people only talk about the work they have done but rarely do they ever speak about the life they have lived, the experiences they have had and the kind of life then want to live.
