27/04/1915 The centre of the line was advanced at 4pm so that it made a straight line across the peninsula from 168C to De Totts battery. The Border Regt threw up their right a little and the Inniskillings who had been facing E swung round and faced N. #Gallipoli #fww #diary

26/04/21915 "We waited for the rest of the Division to advance up the valley towards Krithia so we could join in on their left as they advanced but no advance took place. We got no information about anyone." The MEF's restraint on 26/04 hands back initiative to the defenders...

Whilst CHT Lucas of the 87th Brigade would survive April 25th, the Dardanelles and the rest fo the war... his fellow Brigade Majors of the 29th Division (all psc) would not... Costeker (on V Beach), Frankland (on W Beach) #Gallipoli #FWW

Pleased to read that visits to FWW battlefields are still being maintained by schools... and also aware of innovations by tour companies, charities like @cambswfa & @gallipoli100 and sites in UK such as @GreatWarHuts in support

Are international school trips a valid educational experience or an exclusive perk for those that can afford it? @Emma_Seith looks into the arguments as some Scottish LAs stop schools planning such trips for the foreseeable future. https://t.co/Fecejc4Wqo

Would urge any member of the @GreatWarGroup wanting to write on one of the Salient Points upcoming themes to 'pitch' an article to the editors. I did & it was published in most recent SP. Am not a professional historian, or a published writer - & I thank them for taking the risk

I think the 1st Salient Points magazine from @GreatWarGroup including a contribution by a @CambsWFA member. Regular attendees of our branch won't be surprised that CHT Lucas appears... he gets everywhere ... incl.1st Ypres, Gallipoli, Somme, Arras, 3rd ypres, Cambrai, 100 Days...

CHT Lucas Diary Entry 10/01/1915: Caught 10AM train to Rugby. Arrived c.12.30. Took up headquarters at Grand Hotel. Quite comfortable; at present only one other man in the hotel. After lunch called on town clerk to run through billeting arrangements. 2/2 https://t.co/kHVjswwiTw

For the 29th Division, the Dardanelles campaign preparation would begin in January 1915 - as they formed in the Midlands, the expectation at that time was that they were bound for the Western Front. #Gallipoli #FWW 1/2
