This meeting is a joint session of the Cuvelai Water Commission (CUVECOM) & the Permanent Joint Technical Commission of the Cunene River Basin (PJTC) & will feature presentations & discussions regarding current progress and an overview of planned project activities going forward.
#HappeningNow is the High-Level Briefing for the CUVKUN Project since its inception in May 2024. The briefing brings together the delegations from the 2 Member States of #Angola & #Namibia, @UNDP, & GWPSA to appreciate the project's progress to date across all six key components.

The one-day meeting is taking place in Windhoek and aims to review project progress and make strategic decisions regarding the implementation of joint management of the Cuvelai and Kunene Basins.

The TDA report for the Limpopo River Basin clearly captures all the key challenges affecting the basin. Ms. Mthembu from the Republic of South Africa said this, adding that it is critical for riparian states to draft a comprehensive SAP & NAPs to address the identified problem.
Gilbert Mawere from the Republic of Zimbabwe noted that the complexity of transboundary water governance is easily addressed when riparian states build trust among themselves. He said this at the approval of the TDA report, which set in motion the development of the SAP & NAPs.

The Republic of Botswana through its representative to the basin-wide meeting, Dr. Kene Dick pledged total commitment to making sure that the development process of the SAP & NAPs to address challenges prioritised by the TDA report are a success.

@LIMCOM_SEC Member States have approved the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) report for the Limpopo River Basin. The report identifies & prioritizes key transboundary water-related environmental problems requiring urgent attention at both national & transboundary levels.

LIMCOM Member States have kick-started the process of developing National Action Plans (NAPs) that aim to translate the basin-wide Strategic Action Plan (SAP) into concrete and comprehensive interventions to be implemented at the country level.
