Also: "Let's not just talk about honoring educators, let's make sure they are treated with the respect & dignity they deserve...a livable wage, ongoing professional learning & development, supportive working conditions & a work environment where their voices are welcome"

Secretary Cardona: "Especially now during a pandemic, engaging all parents' voices in this process of recovery and addressing disparities is not only important, it's necessary. All parents' voices must be heard."

Again, Secretary Cardona; "We can't lose this moment—this chance for a reset in education—by going back to the same pre-pandemic strategies that did not address inequities"

Thank you, Secretary Cardona, for your leadership. Some highlights from a recent speech: "All kids must be seen, all kids must be connected, and all kids must hear their names in school every day. "

And Justin Wells argues that worthwhile student profiles must be 1) co-designed with the community; 2) start with instructional practice rather than assessment measurement; and 3) honestly consider the implications of the promise to students.

If we don’t see graduate profiles made visible in actual student work then we’re destined to look back on grad profiles as another edu-trend.

Words of wisdom from Tony Monfiletto: "graduate profiles would be a lot more meaningful if they were promises to young people rather than projections by adults...What if we...said that graduate profiles were promises from adults to students?”

Graduate profiles are a hot new thing in education reform - but there's something missing. They must be promises to young people rather than projections by adults.

Very sad to share that my colleague & close friend Mark Kostin is retiring from GSP in June. Mark has inspired me & educators across the county. His insight and total dedication to supporting all children to learn well has been an inspiration for our many years in collaboration.
