The Strait of Hormuz is not a gate that can be opened and closed like that. All Iran has to do is hit a few ships and cause international panic. The regime could use pretty cheap weaponry to “close” the Strait: drones, suicide drone boats, naval mines deployed by small dhows….
We’ve long known Iran has the ability to temporarily close the Strait of Hormuz. But we have the ability to reopen it—and to reopen it permanently.
