Strangely, it's moments like this that I feel most lucky to be queer. I think about our elders. How hopeless they must have felt. How easy it would have been to give up. But they fought for the life I get to live today. What an insult it would be, to them, to succumb to despair

I’m so overwhelmed & delighted to read that historians and researchers have discovered that Dora Richter survived and became a much-loved member of her community, taking her pet pigeon everywhere. After years of not knowing her fate, reading her trans joy is indescribable 🤍

Incredible news. It's been discovered that Dora Richter, the first gender reassignment patient, survived Nazi Germany. She fled to Bohemia after the Institute of Sexology was looted. She changed her baptism record and lived to 74. I'm so happy for Dorchen.
