A detailed ‘reason for a radiology exam’ is very valuable and will make the radiologist’s interpretation more relevant to the clinical team’s decision making.
Similarly, writing a helpful 'reason for exam' for imaging requests is an incredible exercise in communication skills. The precision required to get good results (from the reporting radiologist) is an art. Most junior doctors need to learn how to write a history to radiology.
