So, two Fords - including the Puma Gen-E - are the first EVs to qualify for the Government's full £3,750 EV grant If they qualify, I'm fairly confident the new Nissans due to start coming off the production lines in Sunderland will qualify as well https://t.co/Xp9gW4amBm

The UK's new normal is here: hotter and drier summers. The summer of 2025 will almost certainly be the warmest on record (we'll get confirmation next week). As this @metoffice.gov.uk graph shows, it looks set to break the record by a big margin too https://t.co/qFhgFqON2U

The @DailyMail has described this ferry as being ‘full’ of EVs The facts: 2.3% of the cars are EVs 22.7% of the cars are hybrids 98% of the vehicles have internal combustion engines in them

Also, the article makes no reference to the fact that EVs are MUCH less likely to catch fire than petrols or diesels For example, data from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency found that EV fires are 20x less likely to happen than ICE car fires 3/4 https://t.co/1eoOEuSj2B

While this data from EV Firesafe in Australia found that EVs are 80x less likely to set on fire It would be helpful if articles about EVs and fires included this kind of context Would help make them less ill-informed and scaremongery https://t.co/iZdGoHcAb7

Here's some A-grade EV misinformation from the @Telegraph "EV fires up 77% in two years!!!" What the @Telegraph fails to mention is that the number of EVs on our roads has gone up 105% in those 2 years Which means the frequency of EV fires has actually gone down! 1/4

Delighted to join Liz Allen (@FullCircleCI_ ) on her latest Electric Evolution podcast We discuss the changes the Government has made to the ZEV Mandate - changes I believe weaken the mandate and could slow EV sales Do have a listen if interested https://t.co/WT7EKc3qNg

So the Government is, in effect, acting to help the industry hit some EV sales targets that it isn't having a huge amount of trouble in hitting Also it should be noted that the Mandate is working as intended

It came into effect in 2024, and the industry as a whole met its target in this first year Stellantis even issued a press release proudly announcing their success And in 2025 so far, the industry appears on course to meet its obligations https://t.co/2qmHYnNerg

...and push for even more concessions, and a further weakening of the mandate So, what are the consequences of all these changes, and this weakening of the mandate? Well, firstly, its strange that the mandate is being weakened at all

Credits borrowed have to be paid back By 2029, its possible that some manufacturers will have borrowed so many that they'll really struggling to ramp up production to such an extent that they can pay them all back Which means, in 2029, some could start pleading poverty...
