2nd) Different ways of delivering WGP b-glucans orally – including via dietary supplementation - led to the same features of Trained Immunity in mice, chiefly increased myelopoiesis in the bone marrow reservoir of immune cells. (8ex12)

Our work & a recently published paper ( https://t.co/5ewP6CxRXd) shows other pure yeast b-glucan particles can Train & taken together, this increases the tools available to study #TrainedImmunity which hopefully will inform other groups trying to work with these tricky molecules(7

while in the works, a number of other groups demonstrated Training with WGP, but WE show here that 1) the method of preparation & Purity is key so the B-glucan particle can engage the Dectin-1 receptor in the right way to bring about the intracellular reprogramming for Training(6

We set out to establish 1) if this b-glucan could Train our innate immune system in the same way as seen for b-glucans derived from Candida & 2) could oral delivery Train the innate immune system. Long story short- it did and it does, which is important for a number of reasons;

@WeAreKerry who had recently acquired a common bakers yeast-derived Whole Glucan Particle –we call WGP– aka @wellmune,which was known to activate the innate fungal receptor Dectin1 –as well as being a well-tolerated food ingredient like @PharmaPlusAssoc #ActiveImmune range (4/12)

We started this work ~7 years ago in an effort to improve responses to hard to treat infections like #TB #EndTB & set-up a collaboration with Irish Food Company @kerrysites (3/12)
