Cry and sob hysterically at every occasion, especially when confronted by government clerks

If I do end up using this it will probably be as a boring worky account. Nevertheless it now exists. And who knows I may get bored or annoyed and become interesting

Curious as to the mentality of a labour mp who thinks thats a smart thing to text a journalist or of a journalist who thinks thats a smart thing to report verbatim but unattributed
A Labour MP texts: “The NEC has stopped Reform taking Manchester. Fucking Burnham risked handing over the whole city to those twats, just for his own ambition of being PM in a Government that he didn't build, leading on a majority he didn't win.”

I kinda like that Silver has the most utterly centrist politics imagineable and yet still completely loathes centrists for their incompetence

"If it wasn’t for us Trump would be speaking Apache."
If it wasn’t for us Trump would be speaking Apache. His comments on NATO troops holding back from the front line, given his draft dodging and his general contempt for all but himself, is disgusting even by his standards. It really is time for George W Bush to say something

Inventing nonsense Nobel-like prizes with zero credibility or links to the Nobel bequest to keep egotistical maniacs happy is how we've been handling economists for decades
I'm thinking the Norwegians should take the hit for the team and give Trump a super duper special Nobel Peace Prize. They can revoke it and damnatio memoriae him in three years.

Its biggest problem is if you're going to make a film about a 16 year old being forced into premature adulthood you cannot get a 25 year old to play them. Its second biggest problem is it's deeply tedious

I'm not sure it's that deep to be honest. I think the politics are mundane, unchallenging, and incoherent because they're only in there to provide a background aesthetic to the story... which is also shit
I watched One Battle After Another a while ago & there were innumerable aspects of the movie that exposed its shallow to outright propagandistic liberal contempt of revolutionary politics.

His wife died in 2021 which is one of those "Rosa Parks saw Shrek 2" things
🗓️ On this day, 14 January, in 1977 former prime minister, Anthony Eden, first Earl of Avon, died. ✈️ James Callaghan, the then Prime Minister, had arranged for him to be flown back to England so he could die at home. 📘Robert Rhodes James' biography of Eden has more. 🧵 1/

Throughout my 903 days in captivity, I reflected on this odd juxtaposition: my torturers were incredibly ignorant, yet highly skilled at inflicting harm on others. https://t.co/LPEjgpZnut I wrote the first draft of this article while still in captivity. Now it's in @TheAtlantic

An academic trip to Iraq unexpectedly turned into an immersive field study on the ways authoritarian regimes use brutality.

PM Davey is underpriced. In an election where you have 5 parties in the teens they could pick up a lot of seats by being no one's last choice. Doing and saying nothing is generally an awful tactic and would be suicide for Labour but for the Lib Dems it just might pay off
Which potential coalitions have the most support from Britons? LD + Lab, Davey PM: 36% support Lab + Grn, Starmer PM: 33% Lab + LD, Starmer PM: 31% Grn + Lab, Polanski PM: 30% Ref + Con, Farage PM: 29% LD + Con, Davey PM: 26% Con + Ref, Badenoch PM: 25% Con + LD, Badenoch PM:

It's a bit boring that Norway is too mature and takes this all too seriously to say "actually Greenland is ours"

As someone whose juat colonised Greenland on EU5 lemme tell you it doesnt stop there. Even if you extract the minerals you cant export them coz you only have 2 trade capacity, you don't have the masonry to build so much as a market village and you dont have the pop to run a mason
Ppl r hallucinating on Greenland’s mineral wealth. Exploring and mining in the Arctic is a literal hellscape. The constraints r insane and the costs to overcome 'em r mooning way past imagination. Geologically, permafrost is a nightmare. Ground’s frozen solid—normal drilling

He was an incredibly cool guy who used to walk around occupied Denmark pretending to be Jewish in order to get into fights with Nazis. But he very very obviously made up the poo dagger story
"I'll fight Greenland." In the early 20th century, Danish explorer Peter Freuchen got buried in an avalanche in Greenland. Immobilized and facing the possibility of death in a ice grave, he tuned his own feces into a dagger, which he used to free himself.

I now see the point of having an incredibly stupid High Representative. It allows you to say the quiet part out loud but then if there is pushback you can say "oh that's just Kaja, she is an idiot" and people will think "fair enough"
