helpful signposting to @PAPYRUS_tweets at @NHSBartsHealth #BHBereavement Conference, sadly we are seeing children who have attempted suicide on our children’s wards & supporting parents/carers (alongside children) is an increasing need @WeCYPnurses @WeNurses @WeCanTalkCYPMH
You know your young person the best, so trust yourself. If you are concerned a young person may be experiencing thoughts of suicide - ask them directly. Our advisers on HOPELINEUK are here to help guide you through these conversations. Call HOPELINEUK on 0800 068 4141. #HLUK

Powerful presentation at Barts Health bereavement conference on suicide bereavement. Hadn't thought about place being conceived as a crime scene, police involvement or possible stigma before #bhbereavement

RCEM makes 5 positive recommendations to improve the care and safeguarding of paediatric patients. Two key ones are: - improving ED response to children who leave the department without review - creating & updating policies for absconding children & failure to follow up
The Care of Children QIP found: - over 8 in 10 young people do not have a psychological risk assessment on attendance - 80% of children do not have their notes reviewed by a snr clinician when they abscond - 20% of at-risk infants presenting are not seen by a snr clinician at ED

Less that 1 in 5 young people have an appropriate validated psychological risks assessment tool on attendance to ED. We need to make sure we are doing HEADSSS assessments on all adolescents.
The Care of Children quality improvement project 2019/20 has been published. The project reviewed 30,813 patients under-18 from 180 Emergency Departments. The project has led to 5 key recommendations to improve the care & safeguarding of young people. https://t.co/HLbgn65sGC

Super helpful and as a trainee feedback in this way would be highly effective!
Tips for writing a useful, meaningful Case Based Discussion (CBD) for medical trainees. (My advice is drawn from: over last 3 years I have completed 377 assessments for trainees and supervised >40 juniors) #MedEd 1/n

My HEADSSS exam questions: H: Who all lives at home with you? How are your relationships with everyone? Do you feel safe at home? E: What grade are you in? How do you feel about school? What your favorite thing about school? What are your thoughts on your future?
