We are asking coarse anglers on the Tyne for their help in monitoring 1000 dace we have stocked a short distance downstream of Hexham - each fish has been marked with a blue dye spot on their underside - see below, and thanks in advance:.

The North East Fisheries team have started a River Tyne dace study by releasing 1000 dace marked with blue dye. We are kindly requesting that anglers who catch any dace on the Tyne, carefully check each fish for a blue mark and that any marked dace are reported to us.

We carried out an emergency fish rescue on the Hartley Burn on Tuesday following a report of large numbers of fish trapped in isolated pools. We used electric fishing to rescue more than 500 young salmon & sea trout and safely relocated them further downstream.

It’s vital to practice good biosecurity. Some INNS are invisible so it’s important to thoroughly clean and dry your footwear and equipment when you enter and leave a watercourse. Join us later this afternoon at Derwenthaugh Park to learn how you can help! @InvasiveSp #INNSWeek
