I found @PeterMDeWitt provoking when thinking about this over the years. What matters most: what you profess, LIVE IT. Your behaviour is the ultimate promotion, and trust and consistency is #1. #educoach #instructionalcoaching

Instructional coaching can be an impactful position, but there are six critical issues that often get in the way of coaches being able to do their job. They can be overcome.

Hey Cindy, no matter what the status of coaching culture is, my experience has been moving it forward is 2-pronged: personal and systemic. Personal - your coaching credibility, approach, trust, reliability. Systemic - what exists/what needs to develop to establish coaching space.
Hey #isedcoach PLN!. How have you introduced/promoted a coaching culture in a school that has not yet experienced it?. @klbeasley @mrkpyp @Fi_Hurtado @votefortiff @MsReyna2 @AdamHillEDU @TanyaLeClair

A6: Thanks for this Q - its important to see it as a commitment + I don't think I've made myself that promise. my self-care has happened out of need rather than as a gift to myself, which I know I deserve. #educoach.
Q6 What commitments to self-care have you or would you like to make to yourself? #educoach.

A2: Never have I lived this more. I think it's important to remember that self-care looks different for everyone - I've discovered for me it is the act of being dignified that is my self-care. And that connects pretty well with this quote, @KathyPerret #educoach.
Q2 Parker Palmer says,”Self-care is never a selfish act; it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have.” What do you think? #educoach.

Hi #educoach, Fiona here from HCMC. We're back on home learning + look set to stay this way until we close mid-June. A bit sad, but my success is time spent acknowledging the feelings of those who are struggling with the loss of EOY rituals with their students and colleagues.

A5: More celebrations of learning. Ts who are committed to their own growth (especially in an opt-in context) have so much to share, and I feel like I can do more here to make space for this. #educoach.
Q5 What is something that you would like to see included in your coaching work next year? Why? #educoach.

A4: At times, the resources to think new and adapt. In VN we've only been online for a few weeks this year so not so disruptive, but many teachers have now gone almost 2 years without seeing their families in their home countries. It takes its toll some days. #EduCoach.
Q4 What, if anything, has been missing in your coaching work this year, due to the pandemic? #educoach.

A3: Yes, and more. We are in the final stages of writing a new strategic plan and I hope it will further define the work I do. After a rocky period, it should be something that resets our purpose (and action) as a learning community. #educoach.
Q3 Do you expect these changes to become part of your coaching work as we look ahead to the 2021-2022 school year?#educoach.

A2: It's become more focused as we've put a focus on assessment. It's also a natural fit for us coaches - the art of feedback, designing engagements and check-ins are integral to what we do. It makes for great fodder for cycles, too. #educaoch.
Q2 How has your role as an instructional coach changed since last spring? What are you doing differently this year as an instructional coach? #educoach.

A1: Yes, but they have been way more flexible, and my definition of a cycle has had to be, too. There's been so much learning as we've been squeezed in different ways, + keeping the core of cycles as goal/evidence/growth, however that plays out, has been key. #EduCoach.
Q1 This has been a unique year in education. Have teachers been as eager to participate in coaching cycles this year? #educoach.
