"For years I've been a media target for racism and paid a heavy price. For now, I want no part of it – I'm walking away" https://t.co/UVQDMKnBO5 via @ABCaustralia

Although I try to shield myself from the racist abuse I'm frequently subjected to, the fact it is out there poisons the air I breathe. Now I have had enough – so on Monday night I will present Q+A,...

TWO YRS ago this wk, I made one of those huge life changing, leap of faith career decisions. I moved my team of 10, research &grants to @GarvanInstitute and it’s been so BRILLIANT. So thankful for @dgmacarthur who is convinced I can do anything 👊 and for all of my new friends ❤️
I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ve accepted a faculty position with @dgmacarthur in the Centre for Population Genomics @GarvanInstitute @MCRI_for_kids. I will lead the Clinical Genomics Laboratory, which will continue my research plus take on new exciting projects!

It’s vindicating to see that an independent review found no evidence of systemic Medicare fraud by doctors. GPs just want to deliver great healthcare to a community in which chronic conditions are on the rise. …/1

Starting the year with a BANG 💥 Our second paper is now online! Huge congrats to co-first authors @FergusS13 @neeshakrishnan for this work out in @GenomeMedicine where we show the value of cardiac genetic testing BEYOND family screening https://t.co/Hon9IUbRp9 /1

Completely overwhelmed by the love in this big #hgsa2022 genomics room. In 2002, I attended my first HGSA as a wide eyed GC student. Couldn’t have imagined being the first GC to present the Sutherland lecture 20 yrs on. So grateful to everyone, especially my amazing team 🤩🥹🫶🏻

I’ve been thinking about the ‘doctors defraud Medicare’ piece for hours. It’s my considered view that it’s a shitty piece of investigation. Not because doctors don’t defraud Medicare - a minority do; this is abhorrent. But because most of what’s in the piece isn’t fraud.👇🏽

A phone consult today lasted 45min. The rebate-$39.75 ($25.80 after paying the practice).I can’t hang up after 20min on someone in crisis. I can’t charge someone living on a pension under the poverty line. (1/2)

Have just learnt that my grandmother’s nursing home waited 8 hours between recognising stroke symptoms and calling an ambulance. They left her for a whole day unable to speak or move. I am so angry. In what world is this acceptable aged care? #MedTwitter #agedcare @Mark_Butler_MP

After nearly a decade (!) of iterative development on the seqr platform for management and analysis of rare disease genomic data, we have a preprint up describing this critical piece of our rare disease infrastructure:
medrxiv.org
Exome and genome sequencing have become the tools of choice for rare disease diagnosis, leading to large amounts of data available for analyses. To identify causal variants in these datasets,...
