This is my villain origin story. Like literally part of why I’m writing my dissertation. Each year 31-40% of CA wildland firefighters are incarcerated. A lot of it is due to the fire industrial complex (capitalism). & part of it is the Romantic idea of wilderness as curative
After reading this you might say “why wouldn’t the released prisoners just become firefighters rather than having to use prison labor” and you would find out that they can’t become firefighters in CA due to their previous criminal convictions

I love how no matter how much I move at night, they reposition to maximize cuddle contact. Audie always rests his head on me. They are so sweet 🥹 Tho I hate how stinky Argus — the dirt-roller — always has to sleep on my pillows. Gotta wash them again now ☹️

It got down to the low 40s last night, & I am a cheapskate when it comes to heating, so I don’t turn on the heater usually. The dogs snuck into my bed & formed a cozy lil furry blanket on top of me. A warm snuggle pile. Finally slept a decent amount!
