I am a researcher in love with the life! I am an enthusiast, let's say, who in his spare time is trying to reduce CO2 for SuPERCO2 at @PoliTOnews ๐

Excited and gratefull to have had the option of writing this #News and #views article for @SpringerNature publication @NatureEnergyJnl! The original work rocks, achieving remarkable CO selectivity on a tandem CO2 capture and reduction system! Link here https://t.co/mre7DqsCD4

So glad to be in Bruxelles for the #NEB2025 award by @EU_Commission! Looking forward to visit @Europarl_EN tomorrow for the award ceremony!

As always, all the DFT datasets can be freely accessed and visualized on @ioChem_BD at link https://t.co/Cboo5gq8uK. Equally the paper is #OpenAccess thanks to #SuPERCO2 @MSCActions and #CRUI #CARE agreement @PoliTOnews (7/7)

We carried out a correlation matrix analysis on literature reports of Cu dissolution. Here, cations seem to favor dissolution either via formation of dissolution precursors or by stabilizing dissolution complexes. Excess cations at the surface may enforce Cu re-deposition. (6/7)

Same descriptor applies also to hydrogen evolution! Activation energy for water dissociation correlates with cation-induced electrostatic potential. This descriptor is DEFINITELY unique! (5/7)

CO2 activation itself can be rationalized in terms of cation-induced potential: for bi- and tri-valent cations, cation-CO2 coordination number correlates with potential, as do the CO2 binding energy and the activation energy for CO coupling. (4/7)

Inspired by the Cation-Coupled Electron Transfer formalism, we realized that both the energy gain and electrostatic driving force for cation accumulation correlate with cation-induced electrostatic potential. Such descriptor is powerful, as it is derived from textbooks. (3/7)

Except for late transition metals, all the others do not require a cation to activate CO2, thanks to their shallow d-band center. Besides, surface charging induces a d-band upshift with can convert โcation-assistedโ elements as Au, Cu, Ag into โcation-independent oneโ. (2/7)

First #SuPERCO2 paper just published in @ChemCatChem to seal the cation journey with @TheorHetCatICIQ. We list catalysts which need cations to activate CO2, re-interpret previous results in terms of cation-induced potential, describe cation effects on dissolution. (1/7)

Congrats to all authors! Must read for the #CO2 community!
Our work with Francesca, Ranga and Sophia @EPFL_en @NCCR_Catalysis @ICIQChem on multiscale is out in Nature Catalysis! Thanks @BSC_CNS for the generous computational resources! https://t.co/s7162xfutP

A kid with his bucket full of sand owns the same amount of sand compared to the full beach, as a person with 22,500โฌ owns compared to a 300 billion "wealthy" person. Are we still sure this "crazy" capitalism recognizes the right values of people? #LimitThisCapitalism

What began as a student protest is now turning into a dynamic democratic movement. While it is impossible to know how it will pan out, and how brutal the regime's reaction will be, Serb students have re-ignited hope. Kudos!
