Lots of ‘pressing’ practices have 2/3 players chase the ball in a small area against 5/6 stationary opponents who have to get a number of passes then switch play to another box for players to chase again - this replicates very little of the coordinated skills of ‘pressing’ 🧵

Hummels recently talked about how training exercises under Juric ended after the pressing team had won the ball. I think this is a perfect example of this misconceptualization.

A hallmark of a great player / team is their ability to win the ball and not just defend or dispossess their opponent. Far too many teams struggle to establish possession or start an attack after winning a duel, intercepting a pass, due to a misconceptualization of OOP tactics.

Mine is a simple 7 vs 7 in a relatively large area. Points are awarded for 4 passes in a zone. Passes may only be played into neighboring zones.
