Wealth inequality is something else! In a new @ASR_Journal paper, @nora_wait and I document large international differences in wealth inequality & assess what's driving them. It's just one step in what should be a fruitful strand of comparative research. Here's what we find /1

The 3 million people who make up the top 1% of Americans own more wealth than the 291 million that make up the bottom 90%. We need a radical redistribution of wealth. Thanks to @umichStoneCID for this new video. https://t.co/MsHjttOnjk

Excited that this paper with my wonderful colleague @shaunaldyer is out! Grateful to @ReadDemography, @umichStoneCID, and @UMSociology for their feedback on this paper. We provide further evidence that there’s a need for a path to citizenship for young Latinx adults. ¡Pa delante!

College degree gaps persist btw Latina/os & Blacks & Whites. Using longitudinal census and ACS data, @shaunaldyer & @G_RomanTorres of @UM_PSC illustrate trends over 70 yrs & how college enrollment differences & citizenship influence educational attainment. https://t.co/a82PZFiEpk

Fewer Americans than before are doing better than their parents had in terms of occupational status and income. See our new publication on research and data collection priorities for improving social and economic mobility in the U.S. https://t.co/Bxy3FqZnzp #PopulationResearch

40% off this incredible list of Erik Olin Wright books from @VersoBooks. Wright was one of the great Marxist sociologists of the late 20th and early 21st century. Not to be missed!

Has wealth inequality evolved differently in Europe than in the US over the last five decades? If so, why? A 🧵:

In fact, at some point, I had a post-it on my screen that read "Have you written your page today" (following the advice of a prolific qualitative scholar). After a few weeks during which the daily answer was "no", I ripped it off the screen again in rage!

Great point! In grad school I briefly thought "writing every day" = "words on paper every day", which was a big source of frustration! At least for quant. work, I find it more helpful to allocate "project time" to work on whichever step of the process that needs attention /1

When people say "write every day," do they really write every day? Of the time I spend working on a given article, less than 10% is writing. The rest of the time is reading, data cleaning, analysis, and editing/revising.
