I was super-chuffed to attend an event in Cincinnati with some @ANANursingWorld -Ohio pals where we heard from the amazing, Dr. Amy Acton! She was enthused about @Vot_ER_org , so I gave her my badge & lanyard. If you want your own Vot-ER badge kit, visit https://t.co/bWp6rXXs0U

Some of us clinicians were there at the crossroads, begging institutions not to commit to the finance-based transaction systems pretending to be "electronic health records" on offer at the time. We were overruled and characterized as fuddy-duddies for not embracing the future.

#EHR- Perhaps the worst wrong turn in the history of medicine. Imagine >90% of highly intelligent, highly trained professionals (physicians/surgeons in the trenches) deeply dissatisfied & frustrated (see research/article below) with the technology they must use all day, every day

We nurses have been, and continue to be, easy to bully, divide and conquer. I believe that, if we whistleblowers stay our individual courses and continue reaching out to each other, we're going to reach a critical mass of allies. I hope it's soon.

As a whistleblower, I once believed that my mission was to expose corruption and malpractice in hospitals and government, and that those who claimed to be fighting alongside me were trustworthy allies. However, the past few years have shattered that belief, as I discovered that

The "Florence" whose reputation this product aims to capitalize on would not approve! Inserting more revenue extracting tech into clinical settings, claiming it can fix the bad tech, misplaced priorities and poor management plaguing hospitals, is folly.

#EHR was supposed to improve patient care & make things more efficient. Then the wrong people designed the systems. It has now crippled physicians and is considered a main factor in physician burnout. Healthcare is the only business I can think of where technology has made it

Please note that the @ANANurses Association has consistently argued against a ratios approach to improving staffing, preferring their utterly toothless "staffing committee" plan. See how well that's working out? https://t.co/6WrxKnFwro

In about 6 hours, I will drag myself out of bed, and prepare for another 12 hr shift in an urban ER in the US. I dread it. For months we have not had enough regular staff to keep our empty beds staffed, and the ER is log-jammed with admitted patients who have no "beds" to go to.

Remembering gives us context for our journeys, as individuals and societies, and every generation produces a few who recognize the importance of artefacts in conjuring that remembering. TY to Dame Alicia Lloyd-Still.

The #Origin of our collection goes back to 1913 when Dame Alicia Llyod-Still (pictured) began acquiring artefacts during her time as matron of St Thomas’ Hospital. This collection was held by the Nightingale Training School at St Thomas’ and was known as ‘Nightingalia’. #Museum30
