@awesomekling what if we banned package managers from the toolsets of JS devs.

My "No Graphics API" blog post is live! Please repost :) https://t.co/uL8HsfIlNV

Graphics APIs and shader languages have significantly increased in complexity over the past decade. Itโs time to start discussing how to strip down the abstractions to simplify development, improve...

Why do we trust open source software with anything? The first thing they say in any project is that there's no warranty that it even works.

For decades, programmers coded like ram was infinite. When it conditions change and it's no longer the case, they lost the capacity to deal with that.
The state of popular Windows 11 apps and their RAM management is concerning, especially as RAM prices continue to rise. 1. Discord is always 1GB and even hits up to 4GB 2. WhatsApp is now a web app, not a native app, and RAM usage is frequently 1GB 3. Microsoft Teams, also a web

Ok I tried Omarchy on a new computer, overall it's pretty nice, but I wouldn't call heaving to edit a config file to change screen resolution beginner friendly just yet. I also haven't figured out yet how to install multiple input languages.

AI made me unemployed. I quit my job beacuse I was sick of heaving to debug vibe code slop all day.

How to automate Programming: 1. Over the decades slowly shift the definition of the word "Programming". Preferably towards something mediocre and very easy to automate. 2. Automate the mediocre and very easy to automate thing. 3. Done.

Companies underestimate how over hiring will slow you down way more than under hiring.

Microsoft decided to be supportive of indie developers by joining the Marketing team of @vkrajacic's FilePilot. https://t.co/n0TPEpL4tn
Microsoft admits File Explorer is slow in Windows 11, and itโs going to preload it in the background to help improve launch performance. โThis shouldnโt be visible to you, outside of File Explorer hopefully launching faster when you need to use it,โ Microsoft confirmed. If you

They never seem to be able to give a concrete example. Shame.
@spacefogil So can you show me a game you've built with AI in a second? I would love a tool that would make my life that much easier!

To understand why so many artists hate AI, it might help to know that before AI, the worst thing you could do in the art community was steal someone's work and pass it off as your own. Now thanks to AI, it's a half a trillion dollar industry.

Nice I guess, but why do all the AI videos seems like a generic footage I would find on stock videos? https://t.co/gtVG7McQ63

Talking to journalists is mostly a waste of time. It made sense when they controlled access to the audience. Today, their reach is tiny and keeps shrinking. Build your own audience on social media, and you won't need journalists.

It's depressing that software engineering mostly wastes the hardware advantages to make programming "easier" and "cheaper" = sloppy code. Every 2 decades we get 1000x faster hardware (Moore). I'd like to see real improvements, like 1000x more players MP: https://t.co/GZUxbfE9wO
I've been thinking about a 100,000 player MMO recently (1 server, 1 world) with fully distributed physics (a bit like parallel GPGPU physics). Needs a very good predictive data compressor. Ideas can be borrowed from video compressors. 4K = 8 million pixels. I have only 100k...

I'm sure every company is chasing after Amazon PMs, so they'll set up meetings with 35 people and have everyone spend the first 15 minutes of the meeting reading a document (they really do that!)
She is an ex-Amazon director and has unsuccessfully been looking for a job for a year. Looking at her attitude and demands, I am not surprised. Is this the mentality of the unemployed right now?
