"Sinners" DVD main menu if it came out in the early 2000s:
If this was 2005, the dvd menu would be projected onto the wall of the club while Sammie and Slim played. Hitting 'Play Movie' would give a short animation where the camera tilts up and through the clubs burning roof.

I remember I ordered nachos from the snack bar at the theater. The opening was so quiet that I didn’t want to munch down and bug people in the theater. …then the scare happened. I jumped so hard that my nachos almost went flying. DAMN what an opening scene!.

Jeremy Jahns' review of "Blade" from eight months ago. Maybe, and hear me out, maybe when you're younger, you post some really stupid shit online for the sake of being edgy. Jeremy consistently does skit style jokes in his videos. Can we forgive one perhaps done in poor taste?

It’s hilarious to me whenever Jeremy gets flack on Twitter. For one, he doesn’t use Twitter himself. For two, he is about as down to earth and politically agnostic of a film critic as I’ve ever seen.

I also find the jump to him hating the movie funny considering his rating system is built more around what kind of experience you’re going in for. A better time if you’re drunk means what it sounds like: some of the flaws might not bother you as much if you were a bit tipsy.

His key criticism was he thought a lot of the humor was out of place and took away from moments that could have had more of an emotional punch had they not used jokes as much. …but go on. Pull out the “But he reviewed a Matt Walsh film” card.

The sticker is pretty hilarious. As though that’s some kind of privilege rather than what should be the standard for movies with IMAX optimized scenes.

Also, news. Lots of watching the news in this one. It’s a fairly natural way to convey exposition. But perhaps they leaned on it just a bit too much.

Loved the casting pretty much around the board, and the musical score had some stand out themes. Not Gunn’s funniest film, that’s for sure. But I would still definitely recommend this one for the big screen. It sets the new DC universe up for success and creates a great lead.

So…this felt like James Gunn was under contractual obligations. Yes, I’m referring to the extra superhero characters. This story has a lot to juggle. I think Gunn’s previous films have largely known when to slow down and have the characters reflect, there’s less of that here.
