Batteries are in a growing number of products - from greeting cards to your toothbrush. When you are ready to discard these items, follow your county’s instructions for safe drop-off disposal options.

We experience, on average, 17 fires a year in our Material Recovery Facility or inside one of our #recycling trucks. These fires are due to batteries in electronics that have been put in a curbside recycling cart.

This week we are spreading the word about the impact of #batteries & electronics on our #recycling system. Electronics placed in the recycling cart risk the health & safety of our workers and increase the cost of doing business for communities. Learn more: https://t.co/TGwIZg7JSR

At AMBR, our solution to plastic pollution starts with reduction! Then, reuse. Finally, design what's left for recycling. We recently shared this message at the conference "Plastics: A Forum on Research & Advocacy." Read more on our blog: https://t.co/JcBEvYxNEu

Time for Minnesota to do the same! #mnleg
California has officially banned all plastic bags at grocery stores starting in 2026! This bold move closes loopholes from previous legislation and paves the way for a cleaner environment. 🙌 Like if you agree that it’s time to BAN the BAG! 🛍️ https://t.co/pd1pkEEEjH

"We are not going to recycle our way out of the plastics crisis. The real solution lies in reducing the production and consumption of plastic in the first place." Our Co-President and National Coordinator of @AMBRecyclers Katie Drews at the Plastics Forum

CA's @RobBonta's lawsuit against @exxonmobil drives home what AMBR advocates for. The petrochemical industry sold consumers on recycling as the solution to the plastics problem—it is not. We must first reduce, then reuse, and lastly redesign materials to be recyclable.
The California attorney general announced a lawsuit against ExxonMobil on Monday, alleging it engaged in a decadeslong deception about whether the plastics it manufactured can be recycled.

This is why we recycle—to keep natural resources in the ground! We cannot continue producing infinite amounts of plastic and expect a livable planet. ♻️🌍
Plastics + climate change are connected. In 2019, 5.4% of global greenhouse gases (GHG) came from plastic production alone. Researchers estimate that plastic production could contribute between 21% and 31% of total global GHG by 2050. 💥 #PlasticPollutes

While RECA is providing leadership in the ambitious campaign to create a 100% electronic waste recycling program in Minnesota, we are learning from and monitoring progress and best practices in other states -- like New Hampshire: https://t.co/2DhlxeuNqQ

Plastic gets all the attention, but as our Co-president, Miriam Holsinger, points out they make up a small percentage of the recycling stream.
Did you know plastics make up only 20% of the recycling stream? The other 80% is mixed paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, and steel, which we have been successfully recycling for decades. ♻ Check out webinar to learn more: https://t.co/d3qYoXkd8g

Unfortunately, while Eureka and many of our allies are pushing for stronger definitions of recycling, the plastics industry is pushing to weaken the definition.
When something is labeled recyclable, you might assume it can be recycled. Not so, at least for now. But the FTC's Green Guide updates could change that, unless the petrochemical & packaging industries get their way. Read more in our new blog! ⬇️ https://t.co/m5yftB2CHN

Things break, it's a fact of life. But thanks to MN's new Right to Repair Law, manufacturers must make parts, tools, and docs available to repair shops. Check out #EcoExperience to learn how this helps keep expensive devices & appliances out of landfills.

Their secret is out. 🤫 👀 Big Oil doesn't want you to know that plastics are their Plan B when fossil fuel regulation is on the horizon. In the past years, plastic production has increased tremendously, multiplying Big Oil's profit. 💰💰💰
