MatSE/EE/physics and AM(3DP) wonk with a philosophical bent. Asking simple questions sometimes opens interesting avenues. Likely carrier of wrongthinkovirus

Everyone is hoping for a theory of everything (ToE) or some sort of other magic to clarify or repair physics. There's an obvious idea out there which could probably resolve a lot of issues with only a teensy bit of heresy:. Apply Kelvin's Vortex Knot model to sub-atomics.

I want an LLM (or whatever) that keeps track of obvious jokes as they ripple through the public. A Humometer, of sorts . Like right now, "GM didn't kill herself in two weeks" is going around. "We live in Idiocracy" already played out . I'm sure the comedians notice this.

RT @MushtaqBilalPhD: Libgen, Sci-Hub, and Z-library had millions of pirated academic books and papers. So, they were shut down. We shouldnโ€ฆ.

I sort of came to similar conclusions to these sort of out of the black. Very concise critique. I liked the Disney movie as a kid so I never really questioned the concept deeply until recently, but black holes are wack trolls.

Lol bear this in mind when people start invoking 'quantum' as a buzz word to woo you. (This reminds me of that joke about a science PhD: .you learn more and more about less and less - until eventually you know everything about nothing).

Obviously this is an absurd and not at all enforceable proposal. replace 'against the law against' with 'tendency toward mob lynching for'.

There should be a law against naming your crappy startup or annoying shitcoin after anything technical. Neutron? Nope. Proton? Nope. Electron? nope. Hbar? Also bad. Quantum X? GTFOH. Be original you jerks, you're just hijacking the infostream with your trash.

This is how mathematicians feel (and I can relate); my shoveled area would be sort of scattered randomly and smaller. This is why citizen mathematicians still find novel things. There's more there than people realize and it's more accessible than physics.

Someone did motion tracking analysis of this footage ages ago - it's not on youtube anymore but lets just say the paths tend to curve (and 'worse') when you look at the paths taken. I'm sure it could be redone.

The Cฤƒlugฤƒreanu formula:. Linking # = Writhe # + Twist #. Relevant to knots, ribbons, superconductive vortices, etc. This is the one and perhaps only time where i'll actually keep track of the little accents over the a's.

Dear @elonmusk, Grok is doing amazing things and I love many of the advanced use cases. But it would be even more impressive if it could also nail the basics โ€” like reading an analog clock correctly ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ•’. Just a friendly nudge from a fan who believes in the future of AI.

If your physics thinker isn't slightly heretical on some topic or another, they're not a thinker - they're just a stenographer who tests well. Defense of dogma isn't the same as an honest evaluation of models.

I enjoy this meme because if anyone bothered to think about Williamson's electron model, this paradox seems effectively resolved . Unfortunately you find that we are also a bit sloppy with spin assignments for everything other than the electron.

@pmddomingos The next Einstein will discover what many smart people have not discovered for a century or more. What they discover will look very simple in retrospect, easily discoverable by a nobody, otherwise it would have been a lesser discovery.
