I just watched the final episode of The Penguin. Truly phenomenal show! I loved it. Such amazing acting all around. Almost every single actor on the show should be showered with awards.

And I'm only talking about people with seemingly reasonable objections toward the game. The whole "Trans representation? Yuck!" crowd isn't even worth addressing. I dunno. I find the game to be fine so far. I'm maybe not mindblown by it, but I'm perfectly happy with it.

Since then, I've played Bioware games for their side plots and character quests. But I think Mass Effect 2, 3 and Andromeda, as well as Dragon Age Inquisition, have all had terrible main stories. I don't even remember DA2's story, and perhaps that's telling in and of itself.

That being said, I find the writing to be very Bioware-esque. Maybe my tolerance for their writing is high because of the fact that I don't think they've written a good main story since the first Mass Effect almost. Jesus Christ. 20 years ago.

Similarly, I can see people being turned away by the art style. I find a lot of the environments fantastic but many characters have this weird, almost cartoonish art style that seems like an acquired taste at the best of times. But I guess Diablo 3 hardened me for that, hehe.

I'm not sure where this absolutely vitriolic hatred towards Bioware/DA: The Veilguard comes from. I can understand people not liking the game. I like it quite a lot and have over 50 hours in it after a week, but it's definitely the most "fantasy Mass Effect" DA has ever been.

I just bought a sandwich grill. On the packaging it said the company making it was striving to make "emotionally attractive" products. Come on, guys. It's a fucking sandwich grill. It looks EXACTLY like what someone would imagine a Scandinavian-made sandwich grill to look like.

I don't know if these are the kind of differences that ultimately broke the band apart, but it certainly has a certain air of plausibility to it.
