He urged implementing agencies to work closely with counties, MPs, National Administration, and local stakeholders to ensure meaningful public participation and prevent duplication. Strong partnerships are vital for sustainable water solutions and building community resilience.

P.S. Julius Korir today chaired the wrapup meeting for the World Bank Supervision Mission of the HoAGW4R Program. Strong progress across counties: sites handed to contractors in Turkana & Marsabit; evaluations completed for Mandera & Wajir and Garissa designs submitted for review

The PS echoed these sentiments, urging the Board to continue supporting management and ensuring the Centre remains a regional leader in groundwater research and capacity building. This launch marks a major step toward stronger water security and impactful research for communities

The CS urged the Centre to fully implement the Strategic Plan, enhance visibility to the mwananchi, embed innovation across its programmes, and scale up resource mobilization to attract financing for R&D toward sustainable water solutions.

Today, I joined CS Eng. Mugaa Murithi Eric, PS Julius Korir, CBS, and the Water Secretary for the launch of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training & Research Strategic Plan 2023–2027.

In attendance were, CEOs of the Athi Water Works Development Agency, Coast Water Works Development Agency, and Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency , whose continued collaboration remains essential to the success of these national water initiatives.

The PS also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the availability of necessary budgetary resources to support both the Nairobi Water Supply Project and the LVWATSAN, underscoring the government’s dedication to expanding access to clean and reliable water for all Kenya

The meeting highlighted significant progress made in the procurement process for the Mwache Downstream Works, including the Water Treatment Plant and the main transmission pipelines key components that will ensure the successful delivery of this vital project.

This morning the P.S for Water and Sanitation @JKorir_K, CBS chaired the wrap-up session of the Supervision Mission by the French Development Agency (AFD), bringing together key sector partners to review progress on several transformative water projects across the country.

He called on the Board to support the President’s mega-dams agenda under the National Infrastructure Fund to enhance water security, irrigation, and hydropower. With renewed leadership, we look forward to NWSHA delivering sustainable, impactful water infrastructure for Kenyans.

This afternoon, alongside PS Julius Korir, CBS, we joined NWSHA for the induction of newly appointed Board members. The PS urged the Board to strengthen policy direction and governance, and to champion bold, transformative ideas to drive the Authority’s mandate.

Since the Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed last year, we’re encouraged by the progress made, with three major projects now in the pipeline: the Thika–Githunguri Water Supply Project, the Ewaso Ng’iro Basin Initiative, and the National Groundwater Mapping Programme.

Kenya and Denmark continue to deepen cooperation in water resources management, innovative financing, and climate-resilient solutions, including NbS.

This morning, I joined PS Water & Sanitation Julius Korir, CBS, at the Kenya–Danish Strategic Sector Steering Committee meeting at the Danish Embassy. We reviewed progress since inception and began shaping 2025 implementation pathways.

He called on WSPs to reduce NRW, improve governance, and embrace innovative financing to expand and modernize services underscoring that strong, financially sound utilities are vital for sustainable water delivery. Attendees included WASPA CEO Anthony Njaramba, and Wasreb & WSTF.

WSPs can now better prepare bankable project plans, negotiate with financiers and support Wasreb new planning guidelines.The initiative also feeds into the Ministry’s action plan to boost uptake of blended financing commercial loans and capital-market funding in the water sector.
