I think Hunger Games needs to be in the discussion cause the Teen dystopia genre really took a strangle hold in cinema during the the 10's, specifically Hunger Games, the first movie. The Katniss braid, Peeta vs. Gail, and Jenifer Lawrence was the 'It' Girl during that time.

Both can be true. I feel like they do this sometimes with female characters in the sitcom world where they'll just have them have kids at the end of it even when it's wildly out of character for them. Like it doesn't fit with the narrative they've set up for them.

To be fair they gave her a lot of screen time, especially for a second boot. Solid screen time for 1st ep. Then, for the ball, she was getting a decent amount of screen time worries about her look for only to be safe. So I can't tell if they wanted us to be invested with her.
