There's a line in this that will live with me for a long time. It's all so perfectly chilling, every word crafted to create peak discomfort. It blends desire and obsession beautifully - makes the tension between the two characters delightfully tangible. God, what a novella.

That was utterly horrid. It was also beautiful, and brutal, and repulsive, and heartbreaking, and just so so so nasty. Think I'm going to read a lot of LaRocca's stuff, because it's been a long time since something made me that uncomfortable, and left me wanting more.

Nobody is doing it like RJ Barker, and I honestly don't have much else to say about this book. Inventive. Impressive. Addictive. Emotional. Beautiful. Terrifying. Some of the best writing modern fantasy has to offer. Need book 3 in my veins right now.

Bloody hell, he's done it again A killer. A belter. A full throated scream. An absolutely thriller finale to a wonderful trilogy. But above all, an ode to hope, love, and the strength to carry on, no matter how dark it gets I wouldn't expect anything less from @EdMcDonaldTFK

A fun gothic horror novella about rats and mushrooms and what academia does to people's psyche! Excellent read! Also M L Rio is one of the coolest authors I've ever met.
