Never in a million years did I expect to find such a beautiful and diverse soft coral reef in our backyard right here in #Newfoundland- read about how it happened here: https://t.co/t8qhMxuOqp

Today the last camera deployment to map the distribution of soft corals in Funk Island Deep marine refuge in Newfoundland! It's been a crazy 5 months, and all this would not be possible without the expertise and skills of the team based at @marineinstitute

I have been waiting YEARS FOR THIS! Imagine habitat mapping alien oceans as a marine astrobiologist! EXCITED 😊
Liftoff, @EuropaClipper! Today, we embark on a new journey across the solar system in search of the ingredients for life within Jupiter's icy moon. Our next chapter in space exploration has begun. https://t.co/1OBrI0hinr

🤩 One last look at #EuropaClipper as the payload fairings close! The spacecraft will be on a nearly 6-year journey to investigate if there are habitable conditions on Jupiter’s moon Europa. Liftoff is targeted for Oct. 10 on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy!🚀 https://t.co/2WeTO77WPf

An incredibly rich area of Leiopathes and the densest field of Anthomastus ever observed in the Mediterranean. The near-pristine nature of Cabliers FRA never stops surprising! @ICMCSIC @CSICdivulga @UN_FAO_GFCM @OceanaEurope @_EMEPC_ #marine #biodiversity #coral #reefs

While conducting research on the South Coast of Newfoundland with @DFO_NL, @marineinstitute personnel just discovered a 70m shipwreck south of Francois. It looks to be a trawler with the fish holds exposed. Any help in identifying this wreck would be appreciated.

Overeating isn't just an issue for Americans during #Thanksgiving... The #CliffReefs expedition team saw this Conger eel swallowing Greeneye fish whole near the Cocos National Park of Costa Rica during ROV SuBastian’s 600th dive. 1/2

Nice to see the laser scanner in action! @KatleenRobert
If there’s one clear lesson we’ve learned through @SchmidtOcean's latest discoveries—two pristine coral reefs, one half a mile long—it’s that we should expect life in the deep ocean to keep surprising us. The more we look, the more we see.

Keep your eyes peeled! Someone spotted a North Atlantic right whale skim feeding at the surface just off Long Pond, Conception Bay on 1 Nov. Lots of copepods in the area. New England Aquarium IDed her as #1408 , "Freckles", born in 2013 and never before recorded in Canada.
