Science based management is the unique way forward to protect our seas!🪸🐟Spanish Government @gobmapa announced to ban fishing activities on Cabliers reefs! A big step ahead towards our final bet: a definitive transboundary protection of this deep-sea oasis! @ICMCSIC

It was great to participate in #ObjetivoPlaneta with @lorenzomila to advocate for the protection of Cabliers' reefs. A key move for 🇪🇸 would be to protect the portion of the reef within its waters, showing its commitment to 🇲🇦 & 🇩🇿. https://t.co/gzIF3n6CIh @rtvenoticias #Canal24H

It has been a great pleasure talking about Cabliers reefs and the urgency to protect them at #objetivoplaneta, with the great @lorenzomila. The more we know, the better we protect! https://t.co/8ZunZT5acd @ICMCSIC @OceanaEurope #canal24H @rtvenoticias

How little we know of deep-sea kingdom! A. Sweetman and collaborators discovered polymetallic nodules can produce oxygen in the abyss! A clear hint on how far we are from sustainable dee-sea mining.

An incredibly rich area of Leiopathes and the densest field of Anthomastus ever observed in the Mediterranean. The near-pristine nature of Cabliers FRA never stops surprising! @ICMCSIC @CSICdivulga @UN_FAO_GFCM @OceanaEurope @_EMEPC_ #marine #biodiversity #coral #reefs

Oceana is calling to create a Fisheries Restricted Area in Cabliers, a seamount in the Alboran Sea that harbours semi-pristine cold-water corals. @UN_FAO_GFCM agreed to ban bottom fishing in November 2023, and @ICMCSIC is now researching the area.
