Yesterday's shocking stats on absolute poverty levels in the UK - rises in child poverty and working age poverty - are context for 1 in 4 households with children being below the Minimum Digital Living Standard. Being below MDLS is likely to make it harder to exit poverty.

Last takeaway: yes, we need to be ready to organise and shape how AI is used. Trades unions have an important role. So does civil society and community organisations @NDI_Network @AISummitFringe @GoodThingsFdn.

I loved hearing that @AndyBurnhamGM spent 4 hours in a workshop exploring generative Ai with Mayors from across the world. *This is what everyone should have a chance to do, incl people with low digital confidence - a safe space with peers and support.

We need to talk more about how we enable people to develop the skills and knowledge to *use* AI in our lives and our communities (and, yes, at school and work too).

My take-aways from today's #AIFringe event on Closing the AI Skills Gap . (1) genuine interest from those focused at the high-tech end in being intentional about preventing AI from deepening inequalities @AISummitFringe.

Many people feel digital has happened to them - not for them, with them, let alone by them. Can we prevent this story repeating.

With millions of people still digitally excluded, in the UK and globally, we should have a much sharper focus on digital equity. Otherwise any AI future world will default to existing inequalities.
