To cool off, @thetexanist drove nearly 1,400 miles to jump into five of the finest Texas-shaped pools. Here's his reviews for @TexasMonthly.

I'm incredibly excited to join the best storytelling team in the state. I began reading TM around 2017-2018 when I was contemplating a move from NYC to Texas. I knew instantly this was the magazine 1. I should be reading 2. I should be working for.

Some personal news, round 2: I'm joining @TexasMonthly this week as a senior editor, focusing on travel, the outdoors, TM's dining guide, and service packages. Leaving my role as Houstonia's EIC was a difficult decision, but when your dream pub calls. well, you pick up.

One last thing. You—yes, you!—make choices every day with your attention. If you spend more time on Twitter, there will be more Twitter. If you spend less time engaging with Houstonia, there will be less Houstonia.

We won two (!) CRMAs last week. We told Houstonians' stories in our own way. We built community. We produced a kick-ass magazine. I'll never forget this experience and the people who came along with me.

The work we've done over the last couple years has been even more fun and rewarding than I could have imagined. It was also very hard. But I'm humbled that we get to do these jobs and so proud of what we achieved.
