My most radical belief is that we should end prohibition, fully manufacture, sell and regulate (almost all) recreational drugs here in the US. We���ve been through this before with alcohol & the mafia during the 20’s.

Anyone who is referring to this as a “Civil War” is either ignorant of Mexico’s history or a propagandist It’s not going to be a civil war; but you will see increased incidence of organized violence perpetrated against average Mexicans & possibly “terf wars” between cartels
As someone from a country that also suffers heavily from Cartels, I doubt the situation will escalate into a Mexican Civil War With that said, I think it could look smth like May 2006 Brazil, when the "PCC" cartel killed hundreds of people in a matter of days

What’s so difficult to understand about Mexican narco-violence is that it’s not done in service of anything. The cartels don’t have an ideology, no demands, no politics, it’s just atrocities committed against civilians for enjoyment.

It is almost impossible to study the Mexican drug cartels in detail, especially CJNG and the old Los Zetas, without losing a bit of your humanity. I actually went through a period of depression during my PhD while researching what was really going on.
