They think they can disrespect Emily Brontë just because she was a northern autistic woman and isn’t here to defend herself. No! Not on my watch! I’ll die before I let them get away that or read the book.

Haven’t read the book. But my wife said the new film differs quite significantly from the original plot. Be faithful to Emily Bronte’s vision (whatever that was) or don’t bother IMO. Or at least, don’t call your film ‘Wuthering Heights’ if you’re not going to be faithful.

Tbh I’ve also had some amazing times. Traveling the breadth of England, watching it whizz by as I get progressively more pissed. Very Larkinesque (but without the racism). Should see some of my ‘golden hour’ photos.

Been traveling on this service both ways every 6 weeks or so for nearly 7 years. 80% of the time it’s horrific and you just have to get drunk (take your drink on with you, because you can never be certain there’s catering):
Getting the train back to Bristol from Darlington with Cross Country. Their service is consistently terrible. Train was supposed to have 8 carriages, but only has 4 due to ‘a lack of train sets’. Seat reservations not being honoured and absolutely *packed*. Also running late.

So poor from @CrossCountryUK. This Train from Sheffield to Bristol oversold and unsafe. No seats. People packed in standing in aisles, toilets and vestibules in between carriages. It cannot be safe to travel like this. Plus the tannoy is inaudible. Stood from Sheffield to

There’s one particular second hand charity book shop who’ve been price gouging on books about Palestine. Sometimes 2 or 3 times the cost of equivalent titles. Obviously because these books are currently in demand. And the charity in question has nothing to do with Palestine.

I just can’t imagine it. That’s a book every 3 days. How do you understand and retain stuff when you read that quickly? My biggest personal wish is that I had more time and energy for reading and it can take me weeks to finish just one.
‘Last year I read 137 books’: could setting targets help you put down your phone and pick up a book? Authors and avid readers discuss the rise of metrics, and reveal how many books they finished last year #BookwormSat #BookchatWeekly

Did one post on ~politics~ yesterday. Then felt like killing myself before I fell asleep. When I did eventually fall asleep, I dreamt about fighting to the death. I used to love a good Twitter ruckus but I think I might be - in boxing terms - shot to bits.

I see we’ve gone back in time to 2017, when Jeremy Corbyn was either a bullying tyrant / weak and ineffectual fop, to be deleted as applicable depending on what was politically convenient on any given day.

Decided I’m not committed enough to the guitar to splurge £600 on one, even with credit. Going to buy a pie maker instead. Imagine all the pies I could I make.

Practicing the guitar (Itchycoo Park, Help, Ticket to Ride, Proud Mary - Bm and C#m songs), drinking red wine and admiring my new Adidas Gazelle trainers. If my life is gonna be dominated by work, at least I can enjoy spending the money. Thinking of buying an Epiphone Casino.

Also started buying prawn cracker discs that you can cook in an air fryer in 90 seconds and come out take away quality. Miraculous. The ready made ‘prawn crackers’ you buy off the supermarket shelf are basically just posh Skips / Quavers.

Of course the best bit about special fried rice is smothering it in curry sauce. Tried various types over the years, and most of the stuff out a jar is shite. The best I’ve found is this. Stick it in a white foam cup and you’d swear it’s the real thing:

I’m surrounded by Asian supermarkets where everything you could ever need is in plentiful supply, and yet somehow it’s taken me 4 years to get to this point. I’ve learnt that you can’t cut corners and if the recipe says it needs a specific ingredient, that’s for a good reason.

My current ambition in life is to make a take away quality special fried rice. It’s like a game where I have to find and collect all the component parts. With my recent purchase of a bottle of oyster sauce, I feel I’m nearing the end of my quest. MSG is the final boss.
