Love this. Too often, teachers and other educators are left out of the conversation about what they need. #edutwitter

Want to know how to best support teachers? @AllysonApsey had this wild idea... ASK THEM! The results led to 6 categories. In #LeadingTheWholeTeacher, she lays it all out & offers practical strategies for each one. https://t.co/2FO1iErq28 #dbcincbooks #tlap #LeadLAP

If we could get the idea that the kids don't come to school to do work for us, but instead they come to school to experience learning designed by us, we might see some real changes. Our job is to design for learning to happen. Not to come up with work for kids to do.

These are excellent thoughts, especially in a time when people are all too eager to hide behind the anonymity of popular opinion.

Good morning my friends, time for a #PepTalk Why do some organizations have a culture of anonymity when others have the ability to openly ask questions? Leadership…when you build relationships where people feel seen, heard, valued, and trusted amazing things happen

This is a great point. I think we often forget how isolating leadership can be, and we add to it by expecting superhuman acts of our leaders.

Teaching may be the toughest job, but principal may be the loneliest job. They're in a constant tug of war between mandates, directives, & expectations of the district and the needs & support for teachers. It's important for districts & staff to show appreciation and support.

This article discusses how misogyny taints perceptions of women who network and suggests women disguise their networking efforts as group-oriented. I think it misses one of the biggest advantages of networking “up,” though: to learn from experienced mentors.

People are always told it’s important to network with high-status people to get ahead. But that strategy may backfire for women. https://t.co/DBNBY0bAAO

Has quiet quitting ever been more prevalent than now? With burnout and turnover rampaging, it’s worth rethinking how we view and respond to the phenomenon. #quietquitting

This article points to an interesting tension between parents, schools, governments, and our perception of who is responsible for student attendance. #edutwitter

In the past few years, chronic absenteeism has nearly doubled. The fight to get students back in classrooms has only just begun.

What an interesting question… I think it would have to start by letting teachers explore AI at their own pace and in ways that honor their needs and experience. #teachertwitter #professionallearning

Frankly, *every* school employee deserves relevant, high quality professional learning. Leaving any staff member to fend for themselves sends a terrible message. #professionallearning

💼 We rest a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of #paraprofessionals but rarely include them in professional development opportunities. This is worth the effort to change. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL #TeacherTwitter

The trouble is: administrator burnout and teacher burnout fuel each other. Nothing saps a leader’s energy like trying to guide a burned out team, and nothing erodes teacher confidence like a principal who has thrown the towel in #burnout

Teachers should not be assigned duties requiring them to monitor bathrooms or cafeterias. Any non-instructional time should be teacher-directed work time. Honor the work of educators, treat them like professionals, and allow them to actually do their jobs.

Teachers nationwide are asking for a stronger voice in decisions that impact them, and rightly so. It seems, however, that we keep defaulting to hierarchical structures because they’re familiar, even if they reduce teacher voice. #teachertwitter

The Paradox of Administrator Burnout This is a piece I’ve been wanting to write for a long time. Educators across all job descriptions— including administrators— experience burnout, and the industry needs to reckon with leaders’ fatigue as well. #burnout

For professional learning to be effective, it must take teachers’ experience, expertise, and beliefs into account. Too often, we forget that our participants are people, and instead treat them like empty buckets waiting for us to fill them with wisdom. #ProfessionalDevelopment
